Twirling in to 2020!

Fashion

Hello Darlings!

I hope you all had a magical Christmas break! Albeit a one day holiday for those of us that work in retail (sadly still me) that seems to go by in a flash. I had trouble getting in to the Christmas spirit this year at first, knowing I’d be away from my family and friends  for the first time, but it’s hard not to feel festive when you live in London once the Christmas lights go up. So many classic Christmas movies were filmed here and walking to work each day feels like I’m starring in one. I also hope you had a wonderful new year because my lazy self is almost a month late as usual in posting this which brings me to my new year’s resolution; to post more frequently and on time so that my content is still relevant!

I had plans to go ice skating at somerset house with my boyfriend on Christmas Eve but it was fully booked up until January so we just got some hot chocolate and took some photos there instead in my new 1950’s style Zapaka boutique dress which I thought was perfect for the festive period being a beautiful dark green:

“Green Pockets Vintage Dress”

It is difficult to pose naturally when you are surrounded by people and freezing without your coat but this dress needed to be shown off. The skirt is amazing to twirl in and has front pockets which is always a bonus! Although it flares out already I think a petticoat underneath would also look great to add volume and dress up an everyday pinup look. I accessorised it with my own belt to cinch in the waist as I overestimated my size and could’ve got a small instead of a medium (my fault for completely disregarding the size chart). I also think this would’ve made the lovely square neckline sit straighter but it is beautiful nonetheless. I may get it tailored to fit more snugly but with the amount I’ve overeaten since Christmas I think it probably fits perfectly now!

82422384_217683969234761_4707758496899137536_n

I will definitely be ordering more vintage inspired dresses from Zapaka after being so impressed with the quality and value for money with this one. Probably a patterned one next time since I decided on a plain one so that I could wear my polka dot tights without it clashing! Usually when a vintage style dress is a reasonable price I question whether it looks as good in person as it does online and this one did not disappoint and was true to the images. You can find out yourself by checking out zapaka.com and viewing the vintage dress category.

Zapaka were also kind enough to give me a promo code for my readers to use so you can get an amazing 20% off your entire order by entering my discount code “bekah20” at the checkout. There’s nothing like a bit of retail therapy to get over the January blues…happy shopping darlings!!!

Snag Tights & Body Confidence

Fashion, Lifestyle, Uncategorized

Hi darlings!

A few months ago, I had the most wonderful experience modelling for the company “Snag Tights” that I just had to write about. Please note that this is absolutely not a typical influencer paid “#ad” (I don’t even have a big enough following to justify that)- I just wanted to share with you all my amazing discovery of this brand and their tights which are quite honestly life changing! I did my own styling around the tights chosen for me to model on the shoot which was exciting- I decided to go for relatively 60’s inspired looks rather than wearing my usual 50’s style so that I could showcase my legs a bit more for the tights as you’ll see in the slideshows I’ve attached as you scroll down this post!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Being a woman in Scotland, I’ve owned my fair share of tights from a young age. Tights are marvellous things- they cover your imperfections and give you an excuse not to shave your legs all whilst keeping you warm. But one thing that every woman can testify to is the annoyance of having to pull them up every time they fall down to your ankles i.e.- the “Nora Batty” effect (who even is this person that’s synonymous with baggy tights?) or so tight around the gusset that you end up with thrush from the friction. There seems to be no in between for myself personally which is why I tend to wear thigh highs or stockings most of the time which I struggled to explain to my parents who were curious as to why I owned an Ann Summers garter belt aged 17.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Being relatively average sized at a size 10 and 5”7, I still find myself having to buy large for my wider hips and long torso, so I couldn’t begin to imagine the struggle my plus size or my petite friends must have and discussed it with them. This is how I first became aware of Snag Tights and subsequently, started to see them everywhere- both my friend Sara and my Auntie were sporting their tights and couldn’t praise the brand enough, enthusiastically directing me to the website!

I followed them on Instagram and immediately stocked up on some tights for work. I was pleasantly surprised that the hype was real and the tights were not only a smooth thick denier but fit me perfectly length and width wise and I got through an 8 hour shift without having to pull them up! A few weeks later I noticed they were looking for models and my Auntie suggested I go for it. I didn’t expect to be selected but they were looking for real women of varying sizes which I thought was so progressive and amazing for women who have issues with body confidence (myself included).

Which brings me on to my experience at the photo shoot… Even though I knew the model criteria, I was flabbergasted to see so many confident women who although beautiful were not typical fashion model sizes and I was one of the skinniest there which I’ve never felt before given I’m usually around my Uni friends who are all annoyingly slim and could pass for Victoria’s secret angels (typical fashion students). It was so refreshing to witness each of them be comfortable in their own skin, owning it and not caring about unflattering angles or being negative about themselves. I began to feel like a fraud in comparison because mentally I didn’t feel the same positivity about my body and felt like it was glaringly obvious that I wasn’t as relaxed as the others (despite everyone being so friendly and easy-going). I’ve clearly watched too many episodes of Britain’s Next Top Model and was worrying about how I was posing and in the outtakes you can see how awkward and uncomfortable I was on my own and it is actually the more candid shots laughing with the other girls that turned out to be the nicest photos. I still have a terrible habit of homing in on my insecurities/perceived flaws, but it did make me realise that when I look at the other girls I only see radiance and beauty so why would anyone look at the photos of me and be as critical as I am on myself?

Body dysmorphia is something I still struggle with and I feel like this experience really challenged me to open up my mind and be more willing to post “imperfect” photos of myself to my social media. I hope one day I’ll be able to love myself completely but until then I have a bunch of colourful tights to boost my confidence and make me feel like a superhero.

Foxy Lady

Fashion, Lifestyle

Hello Darlings!

I am in a cheery mood because it is AUTUMN! or “fall “as I keep calling it despite being British. September through to November are my favourite months here in Scotland. This is likely because I live close to several parks full of beautiful red, yellow and orange trees and that you tend to spot more foxes around this time! I also think you can find a lot more vintage inspired fashion towards winter and I can indulge in copious amounts of hot chocolate without anyone batting an eyelid (not that this stops me in summer).

I haven’t posted on here in a while due to not having anyone to photograph my outfits but thankfully my best friend Beth (@catsandcreativity) has started blogging again so we’ve decided to help each other out with photos. I might invest in a tripod as well to make sure I’m still able to post whenever we can’t meet up. ANYWAYS… I thought a fitting idea for this post would be to model my fox print dress and shoot in a local park!

45870524_553324681776161_7028715182494842880_nI actually bought this dress in a vintage shop in Manchester during summer when I was there for Parklife Festival but since it’s a deep forest green colour I thought it would still be lovely for this season and could be paired easily with black tights. I’ve accessorised it with the most adorable fox ear beret I was sent from a Japanese company (YouVimi) that specialise in woodland themed hats. I also tried to do fox inspired eye makeup- subtle enough for it to not look like I’m doing a fox cosplay. Beth seems to think I’m slowly transitioning in to a furry and was half expecting me to have a tail but my obsession hasn’t gotten that bad…yet.

45880233_328274081061331_5925983484593045504_n

I also layered with a chunky rust coloured jumper (because I’m always FREEEZING) which I think compliments the tones of the hat/fox faces on the dress. You can’t tell but I’m also wearing some red, polka dot AND fox patterned ankle socks under the boots. Finally, my lovely mum gifted me some stunning gold fox face studs for my birthday that you can see in the closeup shots which are so lightweight and delicate.

I’ve always had a fascination with foxes and found them to be the most underrated creatures. I recently found out that foxes are actually worshipped in Japan (Kitsune in Japanese) and are seen as a good luck charm. I’m delighted to see so many clothing and accessories featuring them recently (and buying them all). If you, like me, adore foxes I suggest you follow @juniperfoxx on Instagram for some much needed cuteness on your feed!

Maison de Choup & mental health

Fashion, Lifestyle

Hello Darlings!

Firstly, I must apologise to my lovely readers since I’ve been M.I.A the past few months. This has mostly been due to university, work and general stress, which has left little time for blogging but inspired me to write this post!

As most of you will know, this is my final year of university which is getting increasingly unbearable as time goes on. I only have a few months left so I should try my best to make those 4 years worth it and attain a decent degree. Recently, my anxiety has taken over to the point where I can’t even open a book related to my dissertation without becoming overwhelmed and reaching out for a paper bag to get my breathing under control and avoid a panic attack. My fear of failure and extreme procrastination has lost me countless days and I’ve now found myself left with less than 2 weeks to write my entire dissertation (and yet I’m here, procrastinating once more).

So… I am perhaps not the best role model for general productivity but if living with anxiety and depression has taught me anything it is ways to calm down and escape my mind to get on with everyday life.  I am by no means a mental health expert but I thought it might be helpful for others who are struggling right now to share some of my personal tips that I’ve found useful during difficult times. To bring some fashion in to the mix, I also wanted to show off my new t-shirt (from the mental health inspired brand “Maison de Choup”) in an outfit post.

MY TOP TIPS FOR MANAGING MENTAL HEALTH

  1.  Self Care–  Little things like making time for a bubble bath before bed, lighting a candle for a nicer atmosphere, treating yourself to new things, indulging in your favourite snacks and even making a special effort in your appearance can make all the difference if you are someone like me that lets themselves go during stressful times. Most importantly (something I’m still struggling with) going to bed at a reasonable time and waking up early will do wonders for your energy and mood.
  2. Socialising– Nothing is more detrimental to your mental health than staying inside away from people all day. Even if you are overwhelmed or studying, just taking half an hour off to meet a friend for a coffee or a chat on the phone will help.
  3. Exercise- Just hearing the word sends shivers down my spine but I’ve found that even getting some fresh air or taking my dog for walks can help clear my mind and the endorphins you get from more vigorous exercise (in my case, dancing around in the privacy of my room) help boost your mood equally as much as going for a run or to the gym.
  4. Music- Music is such a magical thing. Simply listening to your favourite artists can be so calming or uplifting. Even if you’re someone that loves sad music *cough Lana Del Rey cough* it can be comforting to let your emotions out in musical form and even cry for a while rather than keeping everything bottled up.
  5. Refraining from social media-  Try limiting your time scrolling through Facebook and Instagram (where we have a horrible tendency to compare ourselves to others) and read a book instead to escape from reality for a while.
  6. Counselling or CBT- Talking to someone that isn’t close family or friends is something I’ve just started doing and it feels so much better knowing that it is their job to listen to me and I won’t be worrying anyone close to me. Also, mental health professionals UNDERSTAND exactly what you are dealing with so it is easier to explain how you’re feeling and they will have the best advice.

MAISON DE CHOUP

Maison de Choup are an indie fashion brand that I recently discovered on Instagram and have fallen in love with! Not only do I adore the French minimalist vibes included in the logo, but the story behind the creation of the brand is inspiring. The name translates to “House of Choup” – Choup being the founder George’s nickname for his sister who has supported him during his own struggles with mental health. 25% of profits on the clothes and accessories go to charities and organisations focused on mental health. It feels amazing to wear a brand that supports an issue so personal to me and I hope they continue being successful to help break the stigma around mental illness. I have since bought a few more pieces from their “warrior not worrier” collection after being so impressed with the quality of their embroidered logo tee so look out for them in upcoming style posts! For now, here is how I styled their red embroidered logo tee (taken in my new home…the university library where I am looking extra melancholy)

Besame Cosmetics- Snow White 1937 collection review

Beauty

Hello Darlings, it’s been a while!

To give you a quick update I am back in Scotland and drowning in university work (4th year is just as overwhelming and anxiety inducing as I imagined) and work work at my new job where I am communications manager for a local fashion company that sells various designer brands to independent boutiques across the UK. Although I prefer being kept busy, I missed blogging so I decided to take some time out during the Christmas break to review some amazing goodies I treated myself to from the wonderful Besame Cosmetics!

I have always wanted to try out this makeup range since it is inspired heavily by vintage makeup from the 1920s-50s and has received amazing reviews from some of my favourite beauty bloggers. When I saw that they had released a Snow White collection I got ridiculously excited because she is my favourite Disney princess. Growing up, she was a major beauty influence as she was the only princess that looked like me with her pale skin and dark hair and she reminded me that being “pale as snow” was beautiful at times when I felt different and ghostly compared to everyone else. I think she also inadvertently started my obsession with red lipstick which is crazy to think about because I feel bare without it now and own around 20-ever so slightly- different bright reds! I felt extremely honoured to collaborate with such a glamorous brand and was privileged enough to receive a cream rouge and lipstick to test out along with a vanity mirror and makeup bag. The product packaging was stunning and came along with an adorable Besame Cosmetics newspaper that showed you exactly how to use each product from the collection to achieve Snow White’s look.

THE PACKAGING…

THE MAKEUP…

“With a smile and a song” cream rouge

“Snow White Red” classic colour lipstick

THE CLASSIC BOOK MAKEUP BAG..2017-12-20 02.31.35 1.jpg

THE FAIREST VANITY MIRROR…

Processed with VSCO with b5 preset25634828_736433763232892_1115443039_o.jpg25590419_736433753232893_1567129082_o

Le pièce de résistance of the collection is definitely this hand mirror. It is a stunning faux gold plated design that has “you are the fairest of them all” inscribed on the front which is a lovely confidence boost for whenever you use it- and ironically different from how I usually feel when I look up close at my face in a mirror.

The following two images below show off the colours of the makeup more accurately as they were taken without flash (and yes I went a bit mad on the blush but so does Snow White)

25592870_736433796566222_251148670_o25624553_736433773232891_219262067_o-e1514679065862.jpg

THE ACTUAL MAKEUP REVIEW…

I was completely blown away by how perfect this collection is and the extensive research Besame Cosmetics put in to it which is shown in the artwork detail of the packaging and the colours which they matched with Disney’s Ink and Paint department to make a beautiful, authentic recreation of the colour palette from the film in celebration of its 80th anniversary this year.  I loved that the blusher was cream rather than a powder as I have such sensitive skin and powder brushes seem to irritate it. I was surprised that the colour was so coral toned and expected it to be more pink and I was pleased by this because pink blushers don’t seem to show up as much so I end up applying too much which causes me to look more Marie Antoinette than the rosy glow of Snow White. I also liked that it can also be used on lips for a more natural look and it feels super soft on my skin and is easy to blend compared to other cream blushers that I’ve tried. The makeup bag looked like an exact replica of the storybook in the film which was a lovely piece of nostalgia but I did find that it was quite small and not wide enough to fit all of my everyday makeup so I think I’ll use it as a holiday makeup bag for when I’m carrying travel size makeup containers or even turn it into a pencil case!

Favourites…

  • My favourite makeup product was the lipstick due to its wedge shape which meant I didn’t need to use a lip pencil like I usually do for shape which saves a lot of time and meant that I didn’t have to worry about the shades of the lip pencil and lipstick not matching.  It was also the perfect balance of a pigmented lip with a satin finish- not too matte and not too shiny and was long lasting. I’m glad I got the classic red as it is perfect for everyday wear and goes with everything I wear but I would also love to try out the “One Bite” lipstick which is of course more of a blood red colour like the poisoned apple in the film which I think would be ideal for a night time vampy look.
  • The fairest vanity mirror was my favourite makeup accessory as it is so unique and rare to find a hand mirror nowadays and makes me feel like an old Hollywood film star backstage in hair and makeup whenever I hold it. It truly is a prize possession like the real magic mirror in the film that I intend to keep forever.

I’ll leave you with my favourite quote from the 1937 Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs animated film…

Remember-youre-one-who-can-fill-world-sunshine

P.S- Wearing Snow White inspired makeup has made me want to try out some Snow White inspired clothing. Comment below if you’d like to see a Snow White inspired look book!

A picnic and a pretty dress

Fashion, Travel

This past week has been possibly one of my favourite weeks in Poitiers. My lovely boyfriend Euan came up to visit me from Edinburgh and we celebrated a late Valentine’s Day in a treehouse in the forest. We also wandered around Parc de Blossac, cut our fingers on sharp knifes trying to cook, saw Fifty Shades of Grey dubbed in French (much sexier than the American version) and partied hard with my new international friends that are far too cool to be hanging out with me. My favourite day was just before he left when we found a stunning picnic spot by the river. I thought I had seen everywhere in Poitiers but I discovered the most beautiful area by accident on a walk one night with Beth (catsandcreativity.wordpress.com) when our wifi wasn’t working and we decided to actually venture outside. There is a gold statue just by the river of what looks like Mary with Jesus (although she is doing a worryingly Nazi looking salute) that lights up at night as well as a little bridge that overlooks the river. It was a beautifully sunny day and the perfect opportunity to parade around (or in my case walk very slowly and refrain from throwing up after drinking so much the night before) in my new polka dot “Elspeth” dress from Joanie Clothing.

I discovered the Joanie Clothing brand recently on instagram and completely fell in love with their style posts and wanted to buy all the clothes on their website. They specialise in modern day vintage style clothing that’s very quirky without being tacky- like I feel most 50s/60s themed clothing stores can be. I love the pinup look but it’s easy to go too far and look like you’re dressing up to audition for Grease the musical. I wasn’t sure what to expect quality wise since the dress I chose seemed to be at a reasonable price compared to my other favourite websites that are similar to this (Collectif Clothing for instance) but rest assured I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the material when it arrived and it fitted me perfectly so was excellent value for money! I adore the belt detailing around the waist as it replicates the traditional 50s silhouette and how although it is a midi dress it doesn’t flare out too much so can be worn casually as a tea dress as I wore it here:

17036064_606595102883426_1022976668_o17016611_606595169550086_815064197_o17016384_606594969550106_966973232_o

I usually would have styled a dress like this more glamorously- perhaps with some stockings, red heels and my hair curled but I chose to dress it down with my knee socks and trainers and beret to fit in with the Parisian -just rolled out of bed- effortless street style. ( I also was extremely hungover/tired and wanted to eat by the river before the sun disappeared so the whole thing really was effortless)

OUTFIT DETAILS

Beret: Topshop

Ribbon choker: Asos

Dress: The Elspeth dress by Joanie Clothing

Knee Socks: French Connection

Jacket: Forever 21

Shoes: Converse (Yes, heels or cute flats would have looked nicer but not practical for a hike around the river according to my sensible boyfriend…yawn!)

I would love to style this dress again but more fancy as it deserves to be worn in another post to show it’s versatility and mostly because I don’t want to wear anything else for a while! I also bought a sale top (polka dot again) from Joanie Clothing as I couldn’t resist a bargain so I will do another style post featuring these soon!

Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick review

Beauty

Hello darlings!

Apologies that this post is late going up- I’ve been having wifi problems at my residence today #studentlife

I’ve been wonderfully excited to do my first beauty review on this product as it is something I’ve been yearning after for almost a year now. The Kat Von D beauty range isn’t currently stocked in Scotland as we don’t have a Sephora yet so as soon as I arrived in France getting one of these lipsticks was on my to do list. My friend Carly is obsessed with these and actually orders them online to be delivered to her despite the shipping costs. I was originally planning to try their Lolita nude shade but I just recently bought a similar shade from the Body Shop called “Crete Carnation” (which is amazing) so I thought it was smartest to try out a red colour since I would get more wear out of it.

The main appeal to me in purchasing this product was that it is called the “everlasting” liquid lipstick. This gave me the impression that it would stay on throughout the day without smudging or transferring onto things. I also was hoping it would mean I’d finally be able to wear red lipstick and still kiss my boyfriend without us pulling away looking like we contracted foot and mouth disease. This is a serious struggle for me as I feel naked without my red lipstick but also hate not kissing him so I am enjoying being in France and getting to wear it everyday without having to weigh up the consequences.  Another issue I have with lipstick is the infamous “lipstick teeth” and occasionally the even more unfortunate “lipstick chin” so I was preying this liquid lipstick would dry quickly and prevent these daily predicaments from occurring.

I was tempted to go for the classic red shade “Outlaw” but realised that all of my lipsticks are pretty much that colour and that I should step out of my comfort zone and go for a  darker tone (still red though oops).

Nahz-Fur-Atoo

16492305_595511497325120_548008017_o

The shade I chose had a strange name but I instantly understood its meaning- Nosferatu is a famous silent classic Vampire film made in the 20’s and the colour of this lipstick had a definite vampy vibe. I’m not sure why it was spelt this way instead- perhaps a copyright law? I thought it was quirky that it was named after this being a horror junkie myself. I used to wear shades like this all the time- sometimes even darker purples or blacks when I was going through my gothic stage (arguably still am) and wanted to look as much like Taylor Momsen as possible. These shades do suit me because of my pale skin but run the risk of me looking a bit Marilyn Manson-esque so I played it safe by choosing this crimson shade.

16523331_595511510658452_481221418_o16523204_595511513991785_231808320_o16465980_595511470658456_768477615_o

The packaging and design of the lipstick itself is beautiful- to be expected from a renowned tattoo artist. The Sephora that I purchased from in La Rochelle had just introduced the Kat Von D beauty range into their store so the makeup artists were really pushing the products and had created amazingly intricate pieces of artwork on their faces using the tattoo eyeliner which made me consider buying that too but I controlled myself.

The shade is absolutely stunning on and seems to change colour in different lighting- it is somewhere between a dark brown and a blood red/crimson. It also dries to a matte finish- which you can make ombre through application (having only one layer on top lip and two on the bottom for instance).

It dries within around 30 seconds but I preferred to wait a bit longer around 2 minutes before applying a second coat as it was quite slippy and easy (for me anyway) to smudge and ruin.

I went out for drinks last night wearing it and it did last pretty well- when I got home suitably drunk it was a struggle to take off with just a makeup wipe.I did notice that my inner lips were slightly faded and crackly however and my goblet of beer had the lipstick pigmentation all over the rim so it did transfer. Although I adore the colour and  matte finish, ( I will definitely be wearing the lipstick again) I couldn’t help being disappointed in its performance and feel like the price 19.99 euros did not correspond to the perceived quality of the product. To be clear- I love the lipstick but feel as though the branding is misleading as it is not “everlasting” in the slightest. Consumers are definitely paying for the brand itself and the beautiful packaging rather than the quality. I feel like this could be a harsh review as it is one of the better liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried but it didn’t exceed my expectations for such a rave product. It was a similar quality to the Body Shop liquid matte lipsticks I have which are almost 10 euros cheaper.

I hope this review is helpful to those wanting to try out one of these lipsticks and that people understand that despite my criticisms of its performance I do really love the colour and finish of the lipstick and would recommend them!

We ate seafood by the pier of the harbour before going for a wander (that lead to us getting lost) around lots of fancy independent designer shops including one vintage boutique that was blasting N.W.A ‘s Boys-N-The-Hood and the shop owner clearly didn’t understand English and wasn’t conscious of what the lyrics meant which was hilarious.

WHO WORE IT BETTER?

As we were getting lost it started to rain so lightly that we barely noticed until we saw the locals dramatically running to shelter as if there was a storm brewing. They all hid under restaurant tents until it stopped (which took an hour) even though they all were wearing raincoats and they looked at us as if we were crazy and we were dancing in toxic rain! (or maybe they were just judging us for dancing)

Besides shopping and eating there wasn’t much else that La Rochelle had to offer besides an aquarium that I felt uncomfortable going to after eating fish. I would love to go again on a warmer day to visit the beach closeby and try their ice cream which is said to be the best in France. The harbour was even more beautiful at night time and there was even a man playing romantic songs on a piano in the middle of the road which made us feel quintessentially French and reminded us of one of our favourite films set in France: Midnight in Paris!

Burns Night in France

Fashion

I’m not the most patriotic person back home in Glasgow- I hate my accent, I don’t like Irn Bru or whiskey and I absolutely despise haggis (so I normally dread this night). Kilts are cute though- tartan is another pattern I probably collect too much of.

Despite this, ever since moving to Poitiers I seem to have become Scotland’s number 1 fangirl, telling people I meet at parties: “Did you know Calvin Harris is from Dumfries?” and “That salmon is from Scotland so it will be nicer”. I even have my French friends graffiti-ing lampposts with “FREEDOM” and punching the roof in clubs with the classic “HERE WAE…HERE WAE!” or proclaiming “LETS GET MAD WAE IT”.

With this new found patriotism I thought it was about time I pay hommage to the most renowned Scot of all- the poet Robert Burns on his special night( minus the haggis). I got out my new frilly tartan trousers and hit the town with my fellow Glaswegian (www.catsandcreativity.com) and we spread some Scottish spirit across Poitiers with our tartan ensembles.

I adore the frilly detailing near the ankle on these tartan trousers and I predict this to be a major trend going into Spring! Zara sizes confuse me because normally they are petite made and I feel like Kim Kardashian trying to squeeze myself into size small trousers but these actually fit perfectly over my bum and sit nice and high on my waist allowing room to breathe/tuck in jumpers in colder weather.

I’m loving fishnet detail right now so repeated this with the ankle socks instead of tights and felt they went perfectly with the criss-cross pattern of the tartan without being over-bearingly clashy.

Hoop earrings are always a risky move for me- they suit some people beautifully but on me the saying “bigger the hoop, the bigger the hoe” seems to ring true in that they make me look like a lady of the night (and not a high class glamorous one). I find that with these medium sized rose gold ones I have a more ladylike look and they make me feel like Audrey Hepburn when she wore similar hoops in one of my favourite films Sabrinaaudrey-sabrina-close-up-white-hat-and-hoop-earrings
